Our Founders Emeritus...
Howard J. Hébert, CMT
Co-Founder Emeritus
New to the securities business in 1957, Howard Hébert discovered that there were few reliable tools available to help investors make adequately informed decisions for buying and selling common stocks. Buying and selling stocks back then was, and still is today, an exercise in emotional control: a “great story” became just that and could lead to regrettable financial consequences. The buy and sell decisions were fraught with emotional baggage that investors were reluctant to acknowledge.
Howard studied the limited technical stock market research available at the time and recognized that there should be better way to address this emotional buy and sell dilemma. He concluded that by accurately analyzing stock price movements a mathematical description could be developed to illustrate how a particular stock was faring when compared to other stocks and the broader market.
From this concept he developed INSTITECH©, a unique relative strength analysis that accurately describes the price movement of individual stocks and the market in general. Being mathematical in nature the INSTITECH© process is an enduring, non-emotional tool used to aid in the selection or elimination of stocks from portfolio accounts.
In 1992 Howard and his daughter Suzanne formed Hebert Advisory Services as an investment management and technical stock market research firm.
Howard is a Chartered Market Technician (CMT), a member of the Market Technicians Association, CFA Institute© and the New York Society of Security Analysts (NYSSA).
Suzanne M. Hébert, CFA

Suzanne began her investment career in 1986 as an analyst and equity portfolio manager. In 1992 Suzanne and her father, Howard formed Hébert Advisory Services as an investment management and technical stock market research firm.
She is a Chartered Financial Analyst with membership in the CFA Institute© and the CFA Society of Colorado. Suzanne graduated with a BS in Finance from the University of Colorado.
